William Edward Wall was the seventh child of George Frederick Wall & Sarah Willetts born at Zoar St, Wolverhampton & christened August 27th, 1896 at St Paul’s, Wolverhampton.
In 1901 William & his parents were living at 2 All Saints Rd, Wolverhampton. He had an older sister, Mabel (14), & a younger sister Edith (1).
William attended Dudley Rd Primary school in May 1905 but after a year he left to attend an orphanage in Birmingham.
In 1911 William was listed as a scholar at Princess Alice’s Orphanage in New Oscott, Erdington, Aston. William’s father had died in 1904 but his mother was still living in Wolverhampton with his sister Edith at that time.
